And so the long awaited panorama practices have begun and are in full swing. practice is everyday including saturdays and sundays. i have never seen so many pans in one spot before in my life, it gets me everytime i go there. subsequently, u can imagine wat its like to HEAR so many pans at one time.- 150 pans in total to be exact. well let me tell you, it is LOUD. There are about 40 tenors, 20 DTs, 15 DSs, 15 guitar pans, 15 cellos, 20 basses, and about 20 percussuin. (these are all my personal estimates). Now for some reason , people in panoridim seem to think that the members of panoridim play too loud, well let me tell u, the loudest person in panoidim is but a distant sound compared to the everage person here. honestly, at times it just sounds like a set of noise to me, maybe its just because i'm in the dead centre of it all.
so apart from causing problems to my ear drums, practice is going well. there r a million runs, which brings my next thing. its so annoying when we're learning a run and within seconds of learning it, some of these guys actually begin to play it perfectly at the performance tempo and i'm still there trying to figure out how the hell to play this thing. anyway i'm learning that patience goes a long way.
Now u may notice that i said befor that there are presently about 150 ppl practicing. well the maximum number of ppl allowed to play on stage is 120. with that being said, i dont have a sure spot to play for panorama and if i do play i may only be allowed to play for the preliminary round, the semifinal or the final. They have different criteria in selecting who plays for anything. Firstly, you must be able to play the music properly. to detirmin this, everyone ( in the tenor section at least) must play the entire song individually for the section leader ( yes, very scary) to be assesed.
also u muct attend all practices- they take a register every single day. they have other factors too, but i wont get into all that.
anyway, i'm holding on for now

I LOVE IT!! I hope every member of Panoridim reads this entry and realizes exactly how pan bands are run and know that what is expected of them in Panoridim is nothing in comparison. I'm sure the fact that you're spot in panorama is not guaranteed will make you work your butt off if you want to get picked and I just love that kind of stuff. All the best!! I hope you play!
